ABOUT
I’m Elizabet “Liz” Moreno, a bilingual (English/Spanish) graduate student and researcher focused on tourism, international development, and policy in Latin America and the Caribbean. My personal journey as a Cuban immigrant shaped my passion for understanding how culture, communities, and economies intersect—and how tourism can be a force for positive change.

My research explores the full impact of tourism: economic, cultural, social, and political. I produce evidence-based insights and recommendations that help decision-makers create sustainable, inclusive, and responsible development strategies. I’m especially interested in how tourism can be leveraged to benefit host communities beyond the economy, supporting education, governance, and cultural preservation.

I bring a unique perspective by combining independent research with professional experience in public relations and communications. Balancing graduate-level research, full-time work, and new motherhood has strengthened my resilience, adaptability, and project management skills—qualities I bring to every project.

This site showcases my work and insights on sustainable tourism, policy, and governance across the Caribbean and Latin America. My goal is to contribute to research and strategies that make tourism a tool for lasting, meaningful impact.
